St. Louis – Car-X Tire & Auto is taking a stand against breast cancer by donating $5 to Race for the Cure for each oil change performed at the 18 St. Louis area locations. The donation campaign, which Car-X calls Pink Oil Change, will run through race day on June 23. Following the event a check will be presented.
“This year approximately 4,400 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Missouri, and we feel obligated to do our part,” said Rich Brayer of Car-X. “We experience everyday how illnesses have an effect on the families we know and see as customers. It’s disheartening, but we have decided to do something about it.”
Not alone in the fight, Car-X has partnered with radio personality Cornbread from 92.3 FM WIL and alternative radio station 105.7 FM The Point, to promote the donation initiative. Cornbread set the record for the largest Race for the Cure team in 2011, which Car-X hopes will translate into a successful donation campaign.
“We do a lot oil changes in St. Louis, meaning this campaign just makes sense” said Rich Brayer. “With our customers, I know they will want to make a difference and come out to support the Pink Oil Change.”
