Join Car-X, St.LouisGreen.com, and Operation Food Search in helping preserve our Earth, while feeding those in need this holiday season. Bring in your old or unworkable holiday lights to one of our 18 St. Louis area locations, and we will take care of the rest. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Operation Food Search, a food bank that distributes over 2 million pounds of food monthly. Sponsored by St.LouisGreen.com, this initiative hopes to collect and recycle 50,000 pounds of holiday lights.
Materials like holiday lights are wonderful recyclables that are more valuable than trash because they have so many different components that are reusable. Plastic, glass, and various types of metal such as tungsten and copper contained in the lights are huge energy savers when recycled.
Car-X will be collecting lights until January 30, 2012 at its St. Louis area locations.
For those of you who are not in the St. Louis area, we recommend taking your old holiday lights to a local recycling center. By doing our part, we can all help create a sustainable future for our planet.
